Myrtillo is ideal for events of all kinds, such as seminars, conferences, book presentations, theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions, parties, anniversaries, celebrations, bazaars and even small festivals in the outdoor area and in the park.
Myrtillo Cafe is much more than a cafe. It is a Social Cooperative Enterprise with a special purpose: to provide a place for the integration of vulnerable groups (persons with disabilities) into the employment market, incorporated under Law 4019/2011.
Myrtillo has been operating as a cafe and event center since October 2013 and is an innovative self-supporting business and training entity, where all employees are jointly responsible for its viability. At present 90% of our staff belong to vulnerable groups.
The five buildings in the Park for Culture and Children, one of which we call home, were originally constructed after the Second World War with funding from Norway and in 1957 the complex was presented to Greece by the Norwegian Government to provide training facilities for the disabled wounded from the war.
Thanks to this invaluable donation, hundreds of young men and women learned various crafts here (as mechanics, carpenters, watchmakers, tailors and seamstresses, shoemakers, bookbinders, etc.).
“I owe a lot to Myrtillo. Through this job I had the empowerment and opportunity to develop my social and communication skills”
Konstantinos is a waiter. He has been working at Myrtillo since 2014.
"Myrtillo for me means that I have found a job and that I have learned what the outside world is like."
Kostas is a barista. He is one of the old timers at the shop. He has supported us through thick and thin.
"I had no experience before coming here. This is where I learned the job and what I have learned from Myrtillo I give back every day. Myrtillo gave me the opportunity to show what I can do. We are normal people, neither above nor below, we are equal to everyone."
